REAL vs. REALality.

Yesterday, I was reading the comments on HEAB and came across this article which led me to the Nourished Kitchen blog (which btw I ended up subscribing too). As far as I can tell, The Nourished Kitchen seems to be a blog devoted to traditional food preparation.  A very cool blog, I might add.
However, I [...]

Green Eggs and French Toast

Mar 2, 2010 Author: jennincat | Filed under: Musings

Today is Dr. Suess’ birthday so I got the BRILLIANT and FUN idea to surprise my kids with green eggs and french toast (we try not to eat pork) for dinner.
Who doesn’t love breakfast for dinner!

Green eggs and additives.

I skipped around my kitchen imagining shrieks of glee when the boys walked in to the kitchen and saw…

“What [...]

New Life Resolutions Update

First I want to thank all of your for your kind comments on Friday’s post.   I didn’t sit down to write about my past mental illness.  I had planned to just post the playlist and (as usual) I got carried away.  I was very nervous about letting that skeleton out of the closet free [...]

GH 101 – Gratitude

Gratitude

Going back to the 4 wheels of the Hero-mobile, if I am going to choose to ride an unicycle, I try to choose GRATITUDE.  Why?  Again, it’s simple but not always easy.
Gratitude = attitude.
Without gratitude, I’ll most likely have a lousy attitude and a lousy attitude makes everything (including losing those last 5 lbs) HARDER. [...]

Traveling

We are left today for Indiana and will be gone for just over three weeks. While I love to travel I always get a little nervous about getting derailed from my healthy lifestyle. I’m visiting family and my sister and parents both have home gyms. My sister also belongs to a gym [...]

The Morning After

Sometimes I amaze myself.  Seriously I didn’t know it was possible for one person to eat half their body weight in stuffing at one sitting.  For as long as I can remember, I’ve stuffed myself with stuffing and other festive foods every Thanksgiving.  Every year.  The night before I always tell myself this year is [...]

Thank You, My Girl-Heroes.

Nov 26, 2009 Author: jennincat | Filed under: Girl Heroes, Musings

I’ve missed you and I’ve missed blogging.
I thought Thanksgiving would be a perfect day to get back to blogging.  There’s nothing like eating 4000 calories then sitting down at my laptop to pontificate on and on about the importance of sane meals.    Seriously, I was thinking about all I have to be thankful [...]

Rock-N-Roll

You may be familiar with Stephen Covey’s rock analogy.  If not it goes something like this.
Take a jar and fill it halfway with sand.  Next add some small pebbles.  Is is full?  Now try to squeeze some big rocks on top.  Do they  fit?  Probably not….at least not very many.  It’s an object lesson on [...]

Sequoia

We returned home from the Sequoia National Forest Monday evening.   Our trip was lovely.   I’m missing the simplicity of our days spent under the majestic  trees.  A full grown Sequoia is quite a sight to behold.  And since I’m prone to seeing the world through analogy, their massive thousands-of-years old trunks spoke to [...]

A Retreat and Treat.

BalchPark

Today we are going to the Sequoia National Forest.  We are going to the same campground that we visited  last year where we had a fantastic site.  Not only were we surrounded by dozens of beautiful Sequoias, there was a great hill right behind our site that I used for my workouts.   This time [...]
