Move It Monday

Hi there!

I hope you had a great weekend. We spent it with friends in the countryside hanging out by the lake and eating good food.

Here are my workouts and local food finds of last week.

Traveling Fit

I was not feeling “it” Monday. I did a few clean and presses, single leg deadlifts, pull ups and called it a day.

Thing Two, on the other hand, was determined to get a pull up in a day.  So cute. He kept thinking if he just tried harder he would be able to do one. He was disappointed to learn that it would take some time.

Felt better on Tuesday with lots of mobility work, a sandbag conditioning circuit, and tabata kettlebell swings.

Wednesday, I spent over an hour doing mobility work and foam rolling.

Thursday was  a special day. Tamara from Wild Blue Wonder came over for dinner and a short kettlebell lesson.

Even if there wasn’t much working out, there was a lot fun hanging out and posing for pictures. :-)

Friday, I practiced a state kettlebell workout that I’m, hopefully, going to shoot today.

Eating Local on the Road

I stocked up on fresh fruits, vegetables, and eggs from countryside farm stands. Fresh farm eggs were only a dollar a dozen! Since we go through at least 6 eggs a day in this house RV, I stocked up with 8 dozen.

This stand was on a small Amish farm where watermelons were a dollar. The Amish kids were so sweet and cute in their bonnets and hats. I wanted to take pictures of them carrying watermelons on their shoulders but it didn’t feel appropriate so here I am instead. I’m not as cute as Amish kids.

All this fresh produce was hard to fit in the RV. We have squash stashed away under the seats. I tied melons to the legs of the table to keep them from rolling around while en route to our next destination. Classy.

And getting 8 dozen eggs in the fridge was like playing Tetris.

Hugs and High Fives,
Jenn

Not true! You ARE as cute as Amish children!

You know, I heard from someone who was sailing around the world (ie food storage is sketchy at best) that you don’t need to refrigerate eggs, especially if you turn them over every __________ days/months. (can’t remember the details, but that was the gist-) So you flip the eggs- and that somehow protects them from going bad! Well, you should google it, but anyhoo! <3

I was wondering about not refrigerating the eggs also. Those were some pictures to look at :)

Love the weekly roundup, and thanks for posting the pics of us!! I had so much fun visiting you and meeting your family. The KB tips were invaluable, but the best part was meeting you in person.

I plan to blog about our visit soon, too, I promise! 😉 We were on the go all weekend, then yesterday we visited with family who are in from W. Va. I’m hoping to get some time to blog this evening or tomorrow morning.

Let me know what you think of Mackinac Island! Can’t wait to see the MI workout… did you end up doing it on the dunes?

I feel like I’ve heard similar about not having to refrigerate the eggs. I could check with Kelly’s aunt and uncle; they have chickens. I’ll ask them how they store their eggs!

Here was Aunt Linda’s reply: “The eggs are fresh and should do just fine if they can keep them out of the hot sun. They will most likely be eating them soon, so it shouldn’t be a problem. They should be kept as cool as possible, because if they are fertile eggs they don’t want them hatching in 21 days for gestation. LOL :)”

That would totally rock! As a side note, my mom had a pet chicken named Davy Ruffin when she was a girl. In Detroit. 😀
