What I eat???

September 17, 2008 in Health and Food

In case you are wondering. I thought I’d share a basic overview of what I eat. First of all, I eat 5-6 meals a day. It’s true. All those articles you’ve read in US about celebrities eating 5-6 small meals a day really DO work.  AS LONG as they consist of the right foods. What […]

I’m expecting!

September 15, 2008 in Figure Competition, Musings

Sextuplets! A curious thing is happening. Although I’m not losing very quickly, if at all the last few weeks, and my measurements haven’t changed, some sweet little sextuplets are about to be born. I think I’ll call them The Abbeys. In other words, in my opinion (and that is the ONLY opinion that counts!) my abs are looking […]

Evil Scale

September 14, 2008 in Figure Competition

This week has been a rough week.  Damn PMS.  EVERY TIME I stepped on Evil Scale it was up a pound or half a pound. And every time I start to feel mental.  During a normal week, I would remind myself that weight fluctuates and is NOT an accurate tool for weight loss. BUT this is […]

Homemade Taco Seasoning

September 3, 2008 in Main Dish, Recipes

Why buy taco seasoning in a packet when it’s full of salt, preservatives and who knows what else especially when it’s super simple to make at home and just as good or better! All these spices are staples in my cabinets so I know I can always make tacos, burritos, or in my case, a […]

Etymotic Earphones

August 30, 2008 in Equipment

I’m in the zone completing a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) on the treadmill.  My legs are burning from lactic acid build up.  I have 30 seconds left of a sprint before I can walk.  I’m into the groove because I’m listening to Madonna.  Then all of the sudden I’m taken out of the groove because my earphone […]

Hi there friends!!!

August 26, 2008 in Lead Story

Thank you for visiting!

One of my passions is healthy living. Despite this passion, last spring I reached my highest weight ever due to a battle with severe depression, personal circumstances, and poor choices. Unhappy with my self-image, the choices I was making (and that the fact I was going to have to start buying new pants) I decided I had to choose to get healthy again. In June 2008, I decided to start training for my first figure competition. My initial goal was to lose weight. I didn’t realize I would begin to lose others things in the process, such as my lingering sadness, my bad attitude, and my low-self esteem. To date I have lost almost 20 lbs and feel better than ever! Most importantly my chronic depression has all but disappeared and I once again have the confidence and energy to give to the people and activities I love. I’ve created this blog to encourage as many women as possible. Feel free to email me to say hi and if you want you can sign up for my newsletter to receive free updates, recipes, workouts and hopefully laughs! Wishing you the best as your journey toward your own health & fitness goals. You can do it!!!

August 22, 2008 in Motivation

They are still hanging in my room. But they are looking better and better on. I should be able to wear them soon. First I’ll have to get them hemmed. Because no about of discipline is going to lengthen my legs! xoxo j

Zhena’s Gypsy Tea

August 20, 2008 in Uncategorized

This is my favorite tea. It is so good. It does cost a bit more than other teas but it is well worth it if you are a tea lover. It also makes nice inexpensive gift for someone. My favorite flavor is the Raspberry Earl Grey. It’s yummy plain but before I was on my […]
