Confessions and Concealer (A Review and a $100 Spa Finder Gift Card Giveaway!)

This is a sponsored review from BlogHer and OLAY.

Confession #1 I love wearing makeup.

Confession #2  I have even been known to wear makeup to the gym.

Confession #3  I’m not ashamed.

Every since I was a young girl, I have enjoyed playing with makeup.  Years later, I still love to “play” with makeup but I rarely have the time to lock myself away in my bedroom painting, contouring, lining, and blending.  As a busy mom to two kids, mornings are most often hectic and as much as I’d like to spend 20 minutes smearing and smudging the perfect smoky eyes (Yes, I would totally wear smoky eyes during the day to the grocery store.), the fact is, I get very little time to get ready.  This means one thing: simplify.

We all know that the simplest way to have great skin is to get regular quality sleep, eat a well balanced diet, and drink plenty of water.  But sometimes even with my best intentions my skin needs a little help.  Not enough sleep? Ahem Whether I am going for a natural fresh face look or a more glamorous look, I always start by making the most of my complexion. I had just finished the last of my eye moisturizer and was looking for something new when I received the opportunity to review Olay Total Effects Line and Dark Circle Minimizing Brush.

It’s a moisturizer and a concealer in one.  Love multi-fuction!  You simply click the button on the bottom of the stick once or twice and then brush on and, voila, no more dry skin and dark circles.

So what do I think after wearing Olay Total Effects Line and Dark Circle Minimizing Brush for a few days?

WOOT WOOT!!!

I like that it moisturizes and gives light coverage.  Two steps in one!

It goes on really smooth.

The brush is soft and fun to use.  Makes me feel like an artist!

I really really like the click dispenser.  It seems I waste less than if it were in a bottle.

My skin tone looks more even.

Hmmm????

It comes in one shade “For Most Skin Tones”.  I’m really fair, and while it totally works, I think a shade lighter might be nice.

I prefer products with simple ingredients lists and this one was a tad long.

I usually only wear lipstick to the gym or the store or I feel like I look like death. I actually don’t wear “makeup” unless I’m going on a super fancy dinner! HOWEVER, I did find a covergirl (not to mess up your awesome olay review) product at Target that is a sunscreen (woot) that has a little bit of color (woot). I use that sometimes now when I go out. Oh and if I have a huge zit worthy of a 17 yr old, I do bust out the concealer- hate huge weeping lesions on my face if I can avoid them :-) Thanks for the giveaway!

PS I love how you do your smoky eyes- and you definitely look like one hot mama toting the two kidlets around in your retro outfit and smoky eyes :-)

I simplify by wearing tinted sunscreen (City Block spf 40) on my face every day and skipping foundation. I hate foundation anyway, so it’s a win-win!

In other confessions: I am not very good at eye makeup and could use some help with the smoky eye!

I totally wear make up as often as possible! I simplify my routine by using a face lotion w/ SPF.

The only time I don’t wear make up is on long runs and it’s quite scary.

I might try this one out and break allegiance to my fav. I’ve worn a FULL face of makeup to the gym after being in a hair show. Talk about feeling like a priss. Smokey eyes in weight room = feeling awkward.
    Ps tried kettlebells last night

I simplify by using concealer brushes. Also, if I am in a hurry I’ll just throw on some mascara & lip gloss, enough to make me feel confident. :)

My latest simplification was to do away with liquid foundation (except for glam evening makeup) and just use a little powder. I have to admit though, I tend to spend quite a bit of time on makeup – I love it. My crazy makeup moment: going “full face” to my first road race. I’m pretty sure I must have had flaking mascara by the end! I prefer bare face for races now.

I simplify my makeup routine by using a certain eye shadow as bronzer…looks better than real bronzers that I’ve tried. Love your blog!

I have been looking for a new under-eye concealer because I have major blending issues in that area, but need to conceal circles. I will have to pick this up and give this a try, it sounds promising.
Hope you had a great weekend!

I like wearing makeup, but not to workout in – although if it’s already on, I go for it! Love the idea of the brush concealer. I always use concealer, but the creams can look cake-y.

I have my makeup application down to a routine that takes exactly 7 minutes: sponge on foundation, brush on powder blush, brush highlighter under brow and at outer edges of eyes, brush on lid and mid-brow shadow, apply corner contour and under liner, blend and apply mascara. Brush lips with color and top with gloss. Bam! Out the door. This product sounds worth a look.

For ugly bags under my eyes, I have Almay’s bright eyes concealer, but when the bags are bad, and I feel just generally puffy, I dunk my whole face in a bowl of ice water for 5-20 second after washing my face in the morning. It wakes you up!! The bags don’t vanish in an instant, but they definitely go down a lot faster than if I do nothing at all. I love the effects of Olay, but hate that their company tests on animals. I don’t need any bunnies going blind so my own vanity can be temporarily appeased!

I’ve simplified my makeup routine by switching to mineral makeup & mascara. It literally takes me 5 minutes in the morning to get ready, and with a 4 month old in tow, that’s perfect! Plus, I love how light it feels on my face. I also shower at night & dry my hair then (the longest thing for me in my beauty routine), so I can just brush, straighten, or pull back & go in the morning, depending on how I’m feeling. I’m a lot less picky about what I look like these days, which is an awesome feeling. :)

i simplify my morning makeup routine by using era spray on foundation….it only takes 2 seconds to apply to the entire face and then you just blot it to even it out.

I never use concealer, but I know I probably should as not enough sleep really shows as I’m getting older… :) The concealer sounds great; love that it’s moisturizer and concealer in one! I could do that! I “simplify” my beauty routine by often not wearing any make up….

I simplify my routine sometimes by not putting foundation on, and only putting eye-shadow, mascara, and blush on. I can usually get by with these three things.

I have naturally wavy hair so I don’t wash my hair daily. Those mornings save me mucho time! I then brush my hair the opposite way against my normal part and then back again for volume.
