“The produce aisle was a sad little section of fruit and vegetables. No wonder people are buying processed and boxed food. The pictures on the packaging looked really appealing compared to the wilted lettuce and bruised apples.” EXACTLY!! THANK YOU! Thank you for pointing out that in small towns it is rather difficult to get good quality healthy fare – I live in a small-ish town and have often wondered if I was just lacking in my food hunting skills. And when you live on a budget, it’s hard to want to spend the gas to drive the 30 miles to the nearest Whole Foods to buy expensive overpriced health food. I do the best I can with what I have available to me, but like you said sometimes the choices are not easy ones to make.
